Calm amid the storm

Hurricane Ian is tormenting the Caribbean, an Asteroid was destroyed by NASA and President Biden still has his head buried in the sand.

However, I’m serene. I don’t look at the news anymore, and I love life; now. I helped my Artist Friend yesterday, by taking him to the Mental Health Unit – and Tesco – in Cookstown. Then we went to an Art Class, in Moneymore, together. I was running on pure adrenaline – as I had little sleep the night before. And dealt with melters on the road tailgating me. But it was service, gladly rendered. Also, the Art Teacher said that he used to attend Arts and Crafts Fairs at Glenmornan Gaelic Football Ground; which I photographed last month, and attempted to paint at the Class.

I feel that doing things I enjoy, rather than exert myself with daily grinds, helps me. Also, I gave up Red Bull, Hot Food Counters and Coffee over the past few months. I respond, rather than react.

Job Interview (and time issues)

This morning I had a job interview with Bannvale Credit Union in Portglenone. Last week, after hearing the offer for an interview, my cleaner helped find a used car for me; which I paid for and insured. The car is a 2008 Black Peugeot 308 Turbodiesel. Nippy, but not good news whenever it gets colder.

Yesterday, I had a massage with my complementary therapist, and she gave me a bottle of rescue remedy for me. This morning, I overused it; and was hyper. Time-wise, I don’t operate on a regular schedule. If you have no job, no kids and no patience, ‘taking your time’ is like having a loaded gun pointed to your forehead.

On Saturday, I drove to Portadown to get a train to and from Belfast to see an art exhibition by a Chinese artist; for Chinese New Year. Then I drove to Loughgall chapel; with three and a half hours to kill before an anniversary mass for a relative’s mother-in-law. Being left to one’s elements – with the time constraints of others – meant that I rely on my phone, and 4G, to keep me company.

However, Belfast Trust has got back to me about possibly volunteering at Lifeline Helpline. I did a quick résumé for them; and will call them first thing tomorrow. Also, I plan to apply for an engineering apprenticeship with NIE. God loves a trier. 🙂

The week when Northern Ireland grinds to a halt

Wednesday is the Twelfth of July, the day the Orange Order celebrate the victory by the Protestant King William over the Catholic King James in 1690. Amidst all the nonsense and hullabaloo surrounding the ‘religious’ divide here – as far as I’m concerned, the differences between the Irish and British are cultural rather than national or religious – most people still wanna just get along. It’s just the PTSD-induced victim class that get uppity.

For me, it’s simply a time to stay away from trouble; how very Boo-Boo of me. 🙂 Most people holiday during this period, I’ve done it a few times myself, but now I just wanna enjoy my free time.

The hardest way to make an easy living

Song and Album by Mike ‘The Streets’ Skinner – one of my literary idols.

I am gonna spend a few days in London, but because Easyjet’s booking website was hacked, I decided to get a cross-ferry coach to Glasgow and get a train from Glasgow to London. Whole shebang for tickets, booking fees and postage of tickets cost over £220. My initial plans to visit Brighton afterwards may have to be placed on the long finger, yet again, and possibly spend a few days in London. Public Sector workers can fly most Weekends to watch Premiership Games in England; more money than sense. 🙂

My Illustrator classes on Monday and Tuesday have worn me out completely. Today I didn’t wake up until 2:40 pm after running a few errands late last night after seeing ‘T2 Trainspotting’. Also, yesterday afternoon, I had to see the dentist and hygienist. Cost £75, but now I know that the time has come to commit to brushing my teeth twice a day; one of those basic things we’re ‘too busy’ to do nowadays. (me included) Ordered Fluoride-free toothpaste and Aloe Vera dental floss from Amazon today.

Also ordered the ‘seven days a week’ socks from Amazon Marketplace that I used to order from Jacamo; now I have Monday, Thursday and Friday missing. D’oh! Thank God I didn’t have to go back to that glorified Payday Loan masquerading as a larger men’s clothes site now. 🙂

I did a bit of practice on my Illustrator and got it hunky dory.
