New Job

I start a new job – Covid-Related – this coming week. After the December I had, I definitely need to work.

I had to get a new Phone, after being sick while driving and the vomit damaging my old phone beyond repair, and my MacBook Pro gave up the ghost. While I was able to order a new phone, I have to borrow my Artist Friend’s laptop. The Libraries mightn’t allow me to do all I have to do online. (and I’m not talking about filth)

My bin lid broke on New Year’s Eve. I ended up getting a new one this afternoon; in B and M bargains. Also, I had bought a compilation of the ‘Golden Era of Video’ songs at a Charity Shop for 50 p. (double CD) Normally, I avoid the Eighties like the plague. But, I wanted to help out. ๐Ÿ™‚

Driving in the frost has given me the heebie jeebies, again. However, I survived a close call this afternoon. I swear to God that the older I get, the more nervous I am driving. But I am a fighter. ๐Ÿ˜€

No more tunes. Instead, I’ll outline a course of action;

  1. Do more walking. (I am doing Slimming World online)
  2. Keep in contact with my Employment Support Team. (I may have one month left with them)
  3. Appreciate quality over quantity. (especially as I’ll be doing twelve-hour shifts)
  4. Keep up with the Natural Remedies. (Holland and Barrett are a Godsend)
  5. Keep making sandwiches. (Buy my own lunchbox)
  6. Go back to eating Kiwifruit. (I heard it’s ideal for long-shifts)
  7. Keep praying and trusting in the process.

Growth Comfort

I heard an expression on a Zoom conference on Tuesday, which resonated with me. “Comfort doesn’t exist in the growth zone! Growth doesn’t exist in the comfort zone!”

My Slimming World online subscription expired today. Then I went to a class – weigh-in only – to check the aftermath of Lockdown eating. I gained SIXTEEN pounds. From being 20 Stone 0.5 Pounds, I’m now 21 Stone 2.5 Pounds. However, I needed that kick up the Arse. Even though the drive to-and-from Brackaville was a nightmare.

Next week, I have a job interview in Belfast. I can ask the interviewers if there is a possibility of transferring to a more regional location if I do a good enough job there. It’s for Shopmobility. God willing, Lockdown in Northern Ireland will end tomorrow. The Executive decide tonight. A haircut and shave next Tuesday afternoon depends on it.

Sensory overloads are taking place quite regularly now. However, music is my best therapy. Plus, I’m on a Discord group for Adults with Autism.

Black Friday tomorrow. My brother and I have to run an errand together in Cookstown. Hopefully, my sleep will be good.

One piece of good news, I found my parcel box. I left it at the shop where the Post Office was. Everything’s fine now.

I feel better; after a day of panic.

A Million-Step Challenge

Walk A Million

Today is the start of a challenge, until 10 September, to raise money for a suicide prevention charity. The goal is to walk one-million steps in between then; on average, slightly less than ten-thousand steps per day. I have a built-in pedometer on my phone and can upload pictures with the help of Dropbox. Body-Magic on Steroids. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have decided to form a one-man team since I’m not associated with any Primary School or Gaelic Football Club. I called myself ‘Des the Proclaimer.’ 500 miles in roughly one-million steps; oddly enough. ๐Ÿ˜€

I had my daily ten-thousand steps for record achieved by 1:15 pm today; to free up the rest of the day. I was up pretty early and had to walk to the shop and back for items.

Tomorrow, I plan to visit Belfast for the first Post-Lockdown trip. I want to get my steps-worth done there with a friend from Stranmillis who began Lecturing Nursing Students last Autumn. Thrown straight into the Bearpit.

Memorial day tomorrow in America. If only the Indy 500 was still on. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Also, I am catching snippets of the Streamed Manchester Jazz Festival.

Standing my Ground

Yesterday, I ran errands in Cookstown and Magherafelt – I got masks and gloves in Cookstown; as well as A4-sized picture frames, and a downloadable photograph from a Chemist in Magherafelt to renew my driving licence online. Once I did apply online, I felt much better.

Then, in the evening, I attended a Zoom group for my Slimming World instructor- then was awarded my first ever ‘Slimmer of the Week’ award. When all and sundry were pigging out, I kept myself occupied with the internet, conversation and tea/coffee.

But, there is a delay in my mail arriving. There are a few things I’m waiting for which are in limbo. But, they’ll arrive in God’s time.

Holy Thursday today, whenever The Lord celebrated the Passover. I have the Lamb’s blood in my life. ๐Ÿ™‚

Man-Flu is NOT an option

Over the past few days, I’ve been dosed with a cold and sore throat. However, just during that time, I made chicken in the slow cooker, did the dishes and laundry, mopped my kitchen floor and cleaned the coffee stains on my tables. In between then, I was talking to friends across the Atlantic on Skype. Man-Flu is NOT an option for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

There is an issue I have to resolve with a neighbour – which is still on the QT – and I have ensured that my uncle will be there with us to iron everything out. In the midst of all that, I need to keep on trucking.

I’m looking to get back to work, so I’m considering hiring a car to get myself work-ready. 2019 was whenever I crashed-and-burned and have to focus on domestic matters. I’m on my own. Therefore no one can do it for me.

Possessed

Yesterday, I was at a Christian Cafรฉ in Stewartstown and heard Schizophrenic voices in my head; saying, “Hail Satan!” My friend from Desertmartin says it’s a reaction to the change in medication – raising my Citalopram to 30 mg – while my Key Worker says it’s the effect of stress. I reckon it’s both.

Today, I feel better. Prayer and outreach do help issues pass. Lifeline Helpline is a Godsend for me.

I bought a free-range chicken on Thursday, at the butcher with a 10% off discount through the voucher from my Slimming World group, and have the bird in my slow cooker until roughly 1 pm today. However, I gained two pounds in the past weigh-in.

Later, today, I will visit my neighbour. While Ireland faces the All-Blacks in less than an hour in the Rugby Union World Cup Quarter-Final. I reckon we’ll beat them, but get walloped by England in the Semi-Final; I tipped England to win the whole thing before the tournament began. ๐Ÿ˜€

Expenses

Yesterday, my car was serviced for ยฃ100. Not bad. But, whenever you have very little income coming in, and one is eating into savings, that’s still sore. I feel that I could never get any financial luck.

Also, the ‘r’ key on my MacBook Pro is broken. The guy who fixed it reckoned it was due to dust. But I feel that cleaning my keyboard made the situation worse. I am feeling despondent again.

This evening, I went to another Slimming World class, and I lost another half-pound. But I feel that I want it off NOW! However, I just have to keep doing what I am doing and the miracles will happen.

Exhaustion is an issue fo me. Yesterday, I went on a few bus rides en route to Belfast. While I got home safely enough, I had so much to do at home, I wore myself to the ground. Now I know how difficult it is to be a Single Guy in this world.

Losing Weight

Three weeks ago, I was hospitalised after sensory overload. I have been on the hamster wheel quite a while, recently. However, what emerged from that is an awareness of my limitations. For the four Wednesday evenings of June, I will be attending Pilates classes in Holywood (North Down, in case you might be searching for me on IMDb) and hope to join the local sessions in Coagh once it resumes in September.

Also, a fortnight ago, my car got through the MOT. Having heard about the daughter of my ex-Landlady from Dublin spending over โ‚ฌ1,000 on repairs for the Southern equivalent and still not getting the car passed, I can be thankful that I have good people in my local community who won’t rip me off. But, yesterday, the service light was on, and the car needs to be seen to, again, on Monday.

Last Sunday, I went to the Continental Market in Cookstown. Really glad to have gone. I had a Brautwrstย hotdog there from the German stall and Grilled Chicken with Sweet-Potato Fries fries from the Spanish booth. My three weeks of Slimming World have gone well. Three-quarters of a stone – aka ten and a half pounds – lost, already. ๐Ÿ™‚

Tonight, I’ll be seeing Superstars Cafรฉ’s team do a stage production of ‘The Lion King’. Hopefully, on Tuesday evening – if the car will be fine – I will see the Elton John film in Cookstown Cinema. Things are better now. ๐Ÿ™‚
