Standing my Ground

Yesterday, I ran errands in Cookstown and Magherafelt – I got masks and gloves in Cookstown; as well as A4-sized picture frames, and a downloadable photograph from a Chemist in Magherafelt to renew my driving licence online. Once I did apply online, I felt much better.

Then, in the evening, I attended a Zoom group for my Slimming World instructor- then was awarded my first ever ‘Slimmer of the Week’ award. When all and sundry were pigging out, I kept myself occupied with the internet, conversation and tea/coffee.

But, there is a delay in my mail arriving. There are a few things I’m waiting for which are in limbo. But, they’ll arrive in God’s time.

Holy Thursday today, whenever The Lord celebrated the Passover. I have the Lamb’s blood in my life. 🙂

Having to give up driving

On Sunday afternoon, I was returning home from a Gaelic Football game whenever I suffered a meltdown, and only God’s grace prevented an accident. Then, yesterday – Tuesday, I was getting a taxi home from a bus from Belfast whenever I had a case of PTSD and grabbed the driver’s steering wheel impulsively. His response was, “Don’t do that, again! If you’re that nervous with my driving, you shouldn’t be driving, yourself!”

That was when it suddenly clicked. I CANNOT maintain a car with the income I currently have. I plan to sell my car by placing it at the car park of a local gift shop with a ‘For Sale’ sign that I ordered from Amazon. Hopefully, someone will buy it. The Car Salesman I contacted, who’s related to me, said the mileage is too high for him to trade the car.

However, I know that this is the last house on the street for me. Just like my own home. 😐

Sunday Morning

I am enjoying this Sunday morning. Yesterday my internet was banjaxed and it didn’t work again until 8:15 pm, apart from a brief while around 3:30 pm to 3:50 pm. Then I went to different places for WiFi access and went to our local Parish Hall where there was a celebratory event for ‘Couch to 5k’ which had been going since the new year. It put me to shame, but hopefully I can start exercising again; going for walks. 🙂

Also yesterday I did the laundry and hung it on the clothes horses this morning. Chop wood, carry water.

I went to see Specialisterne in Belfast on Friday and they are arranging a mentor for me in graphic design. Hopefully this is the golden opportunity I have been waiting for.

Now I can have a day of rest. 🙂 Or, whatever I consider rest. lol

Managing today

I don’t get my next ESA payment until tomorrow. Today I had whatever I could find in my cupboard/fridge for me; bacon, chili peppers, carrots and rice. Soul Food. 🙂

Last Sunday I posted a letter to BBC Northern Ireland explaining my situation and wondering if I could appear on ‘Nolan Live’. My story is eventful, to say the least, and I feel that I could reach out to other young men struggling to find work.

Wales won yesterday, but England didn’t. :p Northern Ireland play today, can we create an upset? Can Fermanagh create an upset against Donegal today too? Or is ti too much wishful thinking? Wishing my life away as usual.

PIP is coming to Northern Ireland, but it will be different to the system in Britain. I always feel that those who NEED the benefit money to live on but WANT to work are the ones who suffer. Our Government spends too long listening to those who watch Jeremy Kyle; aka Misanthropic Utopians. 😐
